You’re moving with the masses. Huddled amidst a sea of faces, all chasing the same feeling. You’re focused on the here and now. Focused on the unrelenting bass. On the hazy smoke-filled arena. The soaring lights overhead. The ecstasy of it all. A quiet city watches on from the distance at the carnage unfurling beneath a concrete overpass, an unassuming space, forging an entirely consuming experience. smalltown is back. This time we return to familiar territory, with an entirely new cast.

Dusky: London-born production & DJ duo Alfie Granger-Howell and Nick Harriman comprise Dusky. A pair who initially gained recognition during the UK’s 2011 house renaissance, and who have since established a diverse, inimitable sound that draws on everything from hardcore and Detroit techno to ambient, progressive house, jazz, and other more experimental musical forms. With a string of releases on their own 17 Steps imprint label, and support from institutions RA and Mixmag, Dusky’s reputation as one of the benchmark acts on the UK underground scene is set to continue.
Marcel Dettmann: DJ and producer Marcel Dettmann is recognised as one of the most influential proponents of contemporary techno. Widely associated with iconic places – Berlin, Berghain and Hard Wax – Dettmann stays true to his roots by consistently innovating his interpretation of electronic music, integrating art with the scene. Dettmann seeks to inspire his listeners with sounds both reduced and rough, balanced by emotional and surprising moments throughout his sets. Between pure techno, banging Chicago, tracks old and new, Marcel Dettmann communicates his message with an apparent effortlessness.
SPFDJ: Tailgating SPFDJ is no easy task. Her sharp ascent is born of a taste for dynamics that approach and bank with ecstatic momentum. Working at vicious speeds, acidic techno climes are funnelled through kaleidoscopic wares from the wealth of high-energy outposts found across dance music today. Holding a residency at Berlin’s Herrensauna and multiple invitations to Berlin’s Werk, and Warsaw’s radical collective Brutaz, SPFDJ is as deft in moving the most debaucherous underground space as she is at opening the floor for big clubs like Corsica Studios and Oval Space.
X-Coast: Serbian-born, Brooklyn-based musician, X-Coast is known for referencing an array of genres in his sets and original productions. His smash debut, ‘Mango Bay’, named after the EP’s most successful single, plays with nostalgic sounds of 90’s rave culture and has garnered millions of plays on streaming platforms. X-Coast’s productions, along with his ability to effortlessly drift through musical styles have earned the artist a ravenous reputation. Flowing through techno, drum & bass and house with a unique twist; he has releases on Steel City Dance Discs, Mama Told Ya, Unknown To The Unknown, Lost Palms, and his imprint label Riviera Records. Clocking tours across Europe, Asia, and North America, his return to Australia comes as his fanbase down under is at an all-time high.
